Some brands I’ve seen are made in China. We’ve been warned that dog chewys from China are not safe. I don’t want to give my kids food from there. Also, Bob’s and Spangler’s candy canes I’ve seen are made in Mexico–don’t know if I want to eat them either. I’m looking for American made.

Patty, did you see my (redundant) comments about Hammond’s Candies? Their candy is made in Denver, Colorado, USA. They are known for their candy canes. They have online ordering. Also check the “find store” to see if maybe Whole Foods or Costplus in your area might have their candies. I hope this helps.

How about gluten free AND red dye 40 free!

I would like to know as well. I have a great-nephew who is allergic to Red Dye #40. He had to be sent home from school last week after someone gave him a peppermint candy then he broke out in a rash.

For people in Colorado (& others online?), Hammond’s Candies is well known locally for candy canes (since 1920). Here is a link to the FA@ re: gluten free candies: http://www.hammondscandies.com/faqs (It has a GF candy list.)
Their annual Candy Cane Festival is Dec. 12 and 13, 2014. Fun for kids of all ages… Sometimes they have real reindeer visiting…
The malls and other stores like Whole Foods and King Soopers often carry Hammond’s this time of year, too…
Cheers to all.
