Did you know that some hotel chains and brands don’t allow pets?
I know, it’s crazy especially since cats are dogs are basically a member of most folks families.
But sometimes, you just want to escape the pet fur in the rooms or just the plain presence of animals.
That’s why some hotels don’t allow pets at all (except service animals of course).
So whether if you’re allergic to dogs or cats, or just don’t want to be in the presence of barking animals in the hotel lobby and hallways, there’s a hotel for you!
Below you’ll find a list that we compiled of all hotel chains that DON’T allow pets.
Hotels That Don’t Allow Pets
Note that some hotels’ pet policies vary from location to location. For example, a Courtyard Marriott in Charleston, SC can be pet friendly while one in Las Vegas may not allow pets.
So with that being said, here are all the pet unfriendly hotel chains.
1. Disneyland Hotels
- Disneyland Hotel
- Grand Californian
- Paradise Pier
2. MGM Resorts International
- Aria
- Circus Circus
- Excalibur
- Luxor
- Mandalay Bay
- MGM Grand Detroit
- New York New York

Cheers.

True, I have seen hotels allow pets on several floors. Just recently in MN at an Embassy Suites I was on the elevator on the 8th FL & 2 dogs got on I had to get off & take the stairs … so basically they are all over the hotel & there is no escape
Renee
Good idea but here’s a scenery that will/has happened. You have pet free floors in a hotel. All the rooms allowing pets are taken. The hotel is not going to turn away these people with pets. I have seen it.
Robin
Exactly. When you try to filter no pets it comes up pet friendly. A cat can kill me. Dogs aren’t much easier on me. But when I try to discuss this people say there is no such thing and I am lying. I have had several trips to ER because of pet hair. It’s like people with pets have some special right.

While it may not have been legal from the standpoint of there a law in place, it was legal enough for the case to be heard by the Supreme Court and ruled illegal that makes it legal enough for me. Illegal practices are generally handled by the lower courts You don’t need the Supreme Court to handle a situation that is illegal.

Hi Tracy!
Sorry, I am late to the party on this, but I stand with you and all those who have commented. Please read my post (noturavggrl) on 1/27 and 2/1. This has to stop! We need to have a platform beyond this page to get the word out and I like your ideas! Now let’s shake thing up and make enough noise to be not only heard but taken seriously!

Excellent response. I totally agree. We had gone to our favorite dive bar to watch a football game. The bar is small and tight. There were FIVE dogs in the bar and one was sitting on a bar stool! This bar serves food. Having animals in a food serving venue is illegal in our state, but the owners ignored it.
Chicke
OMG so ridiculous ! I don’t want to eat dinner at any restaurant with dogs, cats or any other animal … so out of control .. passed insanity …
Pam Smith
It is so sad that dogs have taken precedence over paying customers. My mother was deathly afraid of dogs because she was badly bitten when she was a young woman. How sad it would have been that if we had taken her to a restaurant or a hotel where dogs were allowed, we’d have to leave. And I know how bad dogs in those places would have have affected my aunt who was severely asthmatic. When they were living, restaurants and hotels didn’t pull this baloney.

THANKS FOR RESPONDING; I know people want to be “anonymous”- but the Hotels need to have NAMES- that go with REAL PEOPLE!YES , I would like to get a class action lawsuit going; we are in the process of moving ( because of 5 years of SELFISH CITY OFFICIALS/ [loud BIKERS at a bar] that won’t enforce noise ordinances) so we don’t have alot of extra funds right now- but I am willing to HELP with a “gofundme” page; If we can get that started and can find a pro Bono law firm or at least one that is helping for decreased rates–we could possibly get something started- but people need to be ready to write letters- to Hotel CEOs, the CDC, the Health department, etc.) The situation is right now one as “the emperor has no clothes” ie. If people do nothing, see nothing- IT’S OKAY! BUT IT ISN’T OKAY! I AM ALSO NOT A SPRING CHICKEN- BUT WE ARE PROBABLY THE ONES WHO HAVE HELPED THE MOST WITH THE ECONOMY- AND HAVE TRAVELED LOYALLY- THE MOST! AND AS I HAVE SAID BEFORE–HOTELS ARE NOT EQUIPPED TO HANDLE PROBLEMS RELATED TO ANIMAL ILLNESSES! I will continue to contact the CDC; if there is a lawyer out there-in the midst of our plight- please respond! I am willing to do what I can- please email; timbuk2teabug@aol.com ( please help the MAJORITY of us LOYAL travelers who want a healthy alternative!)

premeditated
adjective
adjective: premeditated; adjective: pre-meditated
(of an action, especially a crime) thought out or planned beforehand.
“premeditated murder” Seems harsh? Well hotels and rude pet lovers you do know I could die from your furry friend!! If you didn’t know, you do now. I trust you’re not going want me dead and by the way, as far as I know, your furry friend is not allowed in prison! Be kind get a dog sitter and hotels don’t ignore this issue anymore. PLEASE

It’s beyond horrible for some of us. People and hotels make me feel guilty and have now taken it to a new level. This forum is the only vacation I will be able to get thanks to the people whom have decided our lives don’t matter. I often cry as I have no rights here and can’t continue to risk my life by going to a hotel. My family is so frustrated because they don’t want me to suffer or even die, yet they deserve to go away with their mom and know that I’m a in a pet free environment. The employees aren’t even educated or caring, they always say…o we vacuum the room between guest. Which is sometimes not the case, but they don’t realize a vacuum doesn’t help and actually can make a room worse. Hotels need pet free rooms that don’t use the same vacuums that they just used to barley vacuum a room full of dog hair. I’m sad how little people know or care about simple logic or peoples lives.

Hi Tracy, it is alarming to hear that you have, like myself, the hotels expressing your concerns and like me, you’re having no luck. It’s so frustrating and causes me massive anxiety attacks just trying to get someone to care. I’m not on social media and truthfully not good with computers so ai am 100 percent in if someone can get a real movement, petition, or most importantly a class action lawsuit going. Boycotting isn’t even a thing in this situation unfortunately as I can’t find a place to boycott, as they all allow pets. I’ve seen these huge signs advertising Morgan and Morgan law firm, maybe you would spearhead the cause by calling them? Or someone like them? I’m literally losing the fight and my anxieties are through the roof. When I was younger this would have been something I would have had more time to devote to it ,but I am so spring chicken anymore and was just so happy to find this small forum to be able to voice my feelings and opinions. A start no doubt, but someone in the “powers that be” world needs to know to take this to the next step. Hopefully in the interim people such as us will keep speaking out louder, more often and fingers crossed there will be hope. Something so simple, allowing people to go to a hotel seems to have turned into an impossible mission. So sad on so many levels, isn’t it?
Tracy Thomas
As I have previously stated- we need a real website developer -who can/will join the movement! And have a “go fundme”page to help pay for it! We love our animals, but don’t vacation with them, and don’t want to stay in hotels with others” pets!! Start sending copies of medical bills and letters from your doctors stating how dangerous this practice is! WE need Hotels chain CEOs to join the movement and stand up to this shameful practice! Talk with your local news station to see if they will do an investigative report? Write the CDC! Hotels ( and other places!) Need To be bombarded with this information and how their decisions are effecting THOUSANDS!

Smoking is prohibited in hotels and restaurants, people are arrested for urinating in public, peanuts are forbidden on airplanes because of allergies…..but Dogs Rule!
There should be rooms that are Always pet free and if they are allowed in airplane cabins they should be kept in a separate section away from emergency exits and lavatories.
TMC
Exactly !!!!

I hate looking for a hotel any more to travel. I have severe facial & airway swelling to cats & dogs protein. I wish all hotels would reserve at least a few rooms with not pets allowed close to an outside entrance so you could go quickly in & out to that CLEAN! PET FREE room. It really is discrimination. Most of the hotel sites do not offer a Pet free filter either which makes is a pain in the butt to click in and out of every hotel to try and find one that is pet free. Even then there is no guarantee.
Chicke
I am so sorry you can’t even go somewhere else for vacation. Same here when I googled pet free hotels, pet friendly shows up. There even isn’t a pet free filter on Trip adviser to see if there are any. And sometimes when it does show some, when I go to the actual hotels website it STiLL says pet friendly. The last hotel I stayed at in FL some couple allowed their big dog to jump into the pool. And they were laughing saying “oops sorry hope no one minds the dog” .. most people were laughing ..but not me… I told management, they apologized & said nothing to the owners. Ugh WTH

I have actually had 2 cases of anaphylaxis shock at 2 4 star hotels due to pets in the rooms before us. IM MAD AS HELL AND I DONT WANT TO HAVE TO STAY HOME! My husband, kids and now grandkids are suffering because I can’t go to any resorts on a family vacation. Been to the same place our last 4 trips and they don’t want to keep going to the same place. 2 of the resorts have started excepting pets just in the past year to boot. This is just out of control. What other subject isn’t even recognized on google other than looking for a pet free hotel. Google thinks or only refers one to pet friendly hotels. SOMEONE HELP, SOMEONE KNOWS A LAW FIRM WHO CAN HELP ???? PLEASE
Tracy Thomas
I have written multiple times on this site and to CEOs of hotels about this; I have also written the CDC since animals can carry diseases and infestations ( ticks)that people don’t and the cleaning staff are not exterminators and the managers are not Doctors to know what to do if a person gets really ill! It is time for a major movement! I have written about this on facebook and twitter- and we must have a website to go to! And those of us who are severely allergic or impeded by anxiety from animals who have to go to doctors/psychiatrists need to 1) start sending your medical bills to the hotel CEOs marked “urgent” 2) there needs to be a massive letter writing campaign to hotels with us boycotting so they can see how many are impacted! 3) Start calling the local news stations to see if they will do an investigative news story on this! And as I have said- I don’t have the ability to make a website for this, but if someone can- I will help fund it! Someone needs to talk with friends to find someone who will do this- and we need to come up with an appropriate name for the site! Put the word out! My Facebook is under teabug1.

I am beyond the point of wanting any pets including service animals unless they have and enforce the rooms that will allow a true service dog only. Everyone has a dog that ruins my life and just call their dog a service animal. Money can’t buy a trip or hotel concern for a human. I am severely allergic to animals and every trip is becoming more and more difficult for me to go due to a lack of pet free hotels or even sadly knowing that they care less and less about me then a dog. The last so called “pet free” hotel we went to had 4 dogs within 4 rooms of mine. So we had to leave, not them. I’m just beyond angry now with the lack of concern towards my health which is no laughing matter and thinking I may never be able to travel anywhere, anymore just as my husband and I have retired. Help!! There has to be something we can do. It’s out of control and beyond rude. I have no more empathy for people with pets at a hotel and I have massive anger towards the hotels that no longer care.
CynCity
I agree totally with what you’ve said. A class action lawsuit would be great. Let’s find a law firm to take this on!!!
Tracy Thomas-Miller
Have written the CDC; have not heard back- will continue to voice serious concern to them and others about canine problems and illnesses/infestations that will causes human problems/sicknesses. There needs to be a “movement”- that expresses MANY peoples’ problems with this! Thinking of contacting the local news/humane society for help. ANY WITH IDEAS- PLEASE VOICE YOURS!

Thank you so much. I get sick and tired of not being able to shop, bank or even go into a Pharmacy. Because everyplace I go especially in NYC dogs are everywhere. My asthma and allergies go through the roof. Why is it necessary to have your dog especially unleashed in Pharmacy?Bank? Supermarket? Even residential parking lot or lobby? Why put dogs in shopping Carts?
Why do I go into a restaurant to eat do I have to be concerned about dog hair flying around?
Why does people let their dogs or cats lose in apartment building lobby?
If I am sitting in a restaurant eating and someone comes in with their pet,I get up and I walk out. I don’t care if I’ve had one bite or more than half way done. I will not pay one thin dime!
Tracy Thomas
That is great! This is what we need to have- a person who will develop a website for people to say places to stay with NO PETS; Can we get a “gofundme” page going to fund this website? Anyone have any ideas of how to get the communications going for this? Is their a hotel brand CEO that would like to take the reins?? Please-STEP UP!!

I will not stay in hotels that allow pets for most of the reasons others have mentioned. Concur with all the other posts about how ridiculous it is to have to search and search for lodging with NO pets allowed. So I want to mention a recent stay. The Millwood Inn in Millbrae CA – very close to SFO – very clean rooms, good location. NO pets.

It is everywhere. I’ve seen dogs in carts at grocery stores, side stepped urine puddles in Home Depot stores. Seems no one can leave home without their pets…sick and tired in Michigan.

IS There anyone out there who owns a chain of hotels in the USA who would be willing to stand up to this nonsense? To understand the first and foremost intent of hotels is supposed to be “HOSPITALITY”and “loyalty” to HUMAN customers who continue to come back! It is NOT SAYING “WE Don’t like animals”! To the contrary- it is saying we understand the TRUE intent of our pets and their relationship to us- not as “people” but as “animals”! THEY LOVE US, AND WE LOVE THEM— BUT THEY ARE STILL ANIMALS! THE $ ASPECT HAS GOTTEN WAY OUT OF WACK; IRONICALLY- THOSE OF YOU WHO DON’T UNDERSTAND THE TOTAL RIDICULOUSNESS OF THIS SITUATION ARE NOT GAINING CLIENTS! YOU ARE LOSING”LOTS OF LOYAL CUSTOMERS” ( I, a loyal Hilton Honors member for over 20 years!) THERE ARE MANY OF US OUT HERE- YOU ARE THUMBING YOUR NOSE AND POCKET BOOK AT US- WE ARE THOUSANDS IN NUMBER! HILTON, IHG, Holiday Inn, Marriott Bonvoy—and many more hotel groups! Open your eyes!!!

This has become an epidemic! BOTH MY HUSBAND AND I grew up with dogs and love them; but these insecure people don’t; this is not for their pets. This is because they are either narcissistic or insecure and hotels/airbnbs/vacation rentals have fed into this- thinking they are losing alot of business- it is just the opposite! They are losing all of our business- those with allergies and those who want a vacationt/trip without worrying about other’s animals in the halls, elevators, restaurants, and the rooms next to us. These hotels are afraid of a law suit- but they should be con earned about the rest of us filing a class action lawsuit- because the are DISCRIMINATING AGAINST US! Is there a lawyer out there who can/would be willing to get this started for the rest of us? If there is a lawyer willing reading this- please respond- I have tried to ask Urbantastebuds.com how to get people together to get something done- haven’t heard yet. This is really important!

Those who can’t fathom being without their dog, should probably stay home. The rest of us shouldn’t have to stay in a kennel.

I am phobic of big dogs and small barking dogs. I go into a full anxiety attack when i have to walk near a large dog. I was attacked by a dog as a child and that memory won’t go away. Establishments and dog owners do not consider that for some people dogs are not calming and we do not want to be approached by a “therapy dog” at the airport or any where else. This phobia has also made me hypersensitive to dog dander and fleas which prevents me from staying at the most desirable hotels bc they cater to dogs more so than people.

Pet free motels are very limited in number. Motels have become pet obcessive. Pet urine, vomit smells get into clothing. Dander in air causes your arm hair to stand up and itch. Ugh-why isn’t management aware of 55% of Americans without inside pets????????
Andy Maynard
Having a phobia of dogs, or sensory processing disorder or allergies, are all legitimate disabilities, and people like us are often out of luck looking for a hotel that doesn’t allow dogs. We’re supposed to be protected in North America under the disability legislation in the US and Canada, but for some weird reason the dog-lover thing is just something we’re expected to endure. At best, we might find a hotel somewhere out there with pet-free rooms available. In most cases, we just stay with relatives. It drives me nuts! I mean, it’s not asking for much to expect hotels to not allow pets. This “they’re members of the family” thing wears thin when someone shows up with a pig or a pit bull or a Capuchin monkey. Or a Yorkshire terrier with bad diarrhea, but apparently anything goes no matter how dirty or repulsive it is.

Finally some of the airlines & their rules with pets onboard got a little stricter but still there is no escape. Husband worked for one for 30 yrs. The last 10 yrs he said it got crazy. One of his flights had 13 dogs on board, and had to divert because someone had an asthma attack. Nuts…

Pet free rooms hard to find. Front desks seem defensive. Majority of Americans do not have pets indoors, Then why do motels admit 100% of the rooms have had pets in them?

Pets allowed, little service-have to ask for it daily, and price gouging during toroust season. Pets in front counter area, pets in elevators, pets in breakfast room pets everywhere-ugh!

Pet friendly motels stink and one returns w pet dander and foul smelling clothes. It is totally a mania that has taken over the travel lodging industry. The bottom line motive is $$$$$$$$$$.

I wish I did, I would love to just stay pet free places. recently the only one I found that holds down the rule of No Pets was in Arizona . They tell you if you sneak one in, you will be fined & have to leave. I have found pet friendly hotels are even worse in Europe .. ugh ..

We are travelling around Canada at the moment, everywhere seems to encourage pets, we stayed at a fairmont hotel, a couple had 2 large dogs they took up two settees and two chairs for the owners, we went outside. Thinking it would be better only to sit down and get covered in dog hairs.
What’s the point in dressing up and then being covered in hairs!
Unfortunately every time I enter Dog Free Hotels it comes up with dog friendly!
Does anyone know of a dog free website as we frequently travel around the world and it’s driving me nuts!
Ps I like dogs, I have one, but not in my bed or on my furniture! So I do not want to share other people’s!

Need an expert to fix your bad credit? Then 760PLUS CREDIT SCORE is highly recommended. I had very poor credit and could not get a car loan, but when I came across 760Plus on Reddit, my problems were solved. They helped me remove all the irregularities and increased my score to 780, 791, and 775. Our new car has made life a lot easier.

Thank you for your response and I can appreciate your perspective and the feeling this would be a lost cause as that is how they have made us feel. However, no one believed Madelyn O’Hare would be successful but she was. There is power in numbers! Yes, we will be criticized and even hated but so was Jesus! O’Hare was dubbed “The Most Hated Woman in America” but she pressed on and got results. Make no mistake, I do not condone what’s she did, but I do support the fact but she did not allow a defeatist mentality and what could/would be said to stop her. A few short months ago my cousin who is also very afraid of animals was in Hobby Lobby of course they are very pet friendly However, there were two monkeys and yes, you heard me right, monkeys, in there that from my understanding they bring in periodically. The owner’s profusely apologized and said that it had never happened before, but she had noticed that the monkeys kept eyeing my cousin but she did not expect them to do this. It’s great that she apologized but my cousin was traumatized. It has to stop. We have to be the change that we wish to see and we have to stop allowing people to shove things down our throats that we disagree with. We spend money just like everyone else and deserve to be able to do some of the things we desire to do as well. We have got to band together and take a stand although can appreciate you not wanting to be disliked or called an animal hater but I don’t care what they call me, I’m not an animal hater, I just truly believe they have a place and everywhere I go is not their place, unless they are service animals.
Chicke
I agree with you! However large corporation owned Hotel chains will not turn pets away because of the whole blacklash BS. I see it all the time on social media people being attack because they disagree with the pet craziness. One person showed a video of a German Shepard licking a baby’s face & a few people thought it was not a good thing & also concerned of the baby’s safety, (dog) people went crazy. How dare these (we) animal haters( their words) they say such a thing!! Also store employees won’t question people that come in with their mutts, because they are afraid of being sued .. unfortunately I feel it’s a lost cause ..until somebody sues that has an incident with a dog (either bitten or hospitalization, etc) we have no rights just to be able to breathe ..😤
Noturavggrl
Hi Jeannette,
Whether you are afraid, have allergies or just plain have no interest in sleeping behind pets (me), no one should be forced to just deal with animals in hotels, restaurants, grocery stores, etc., unless they are service animals and even then they should be made to provide proof when requested. Like you, my mother is very afraid of dogs, so afraid a neighbors dog ran up to her in her yard to play, while trying to get away she broke her coccyx (tailbone). I am not afraid of dogs and have a couple that I consider family, but not to the point I believe it is acceptable to them to be allowed everywhere that humans are allowed. They have a place and none of those places listed above should they be allowed unless performing a service.
The problem is, we “quietly” disagree with being forced to accept things that are forced upon us! As the consumer, we have the power! A good example of this is, prayer was taken out of schools because someone “loudly” disagreed with the system after she “quietly” asked her children be allowed to leave the classroom during prayer time and was denied. Now had they just allowed her children and possibly a handful of others to be excused, prayer in schools could possibly be still the norm and children today might be quite different. Now, I say, if we can take prayer/God out of schools based on a few that disagreed with serving God, then getting back to the days of “No Pets Allowed” signs could very well be accomplished. I say we unite, get a petition started with valid reasons why this is bad and needs to stop. It is totally unfair that we just accept our fate and be unable to travel or shop where we desire, we have rights too! What do you think?
Jeannette
Lora says it all for me. I am afraid of dogs. Pets make hotel accommodations and unsanitary and parasite infested. Long for the good old days when pets were animals and not people. They are still animals!
Jeannette
I totally agree.

I agree 1000%. Why should everyone be subjected to a dog. Some people sleep with dogs in the bed & you….a non animal person or someone with allergies will have to sleep behind a dog. Not cool. Not to mention the extra work for housekeeping.
Lora
I thought the dog pest has only expanded in Europe (Italy allows them absolutely everywhere except for the steam bath, because “it would be difficult for the dog to breathe………”)
I am afraid of dogs. I do not want them around especially in enclosed areas such as hotels, restaurants and shops. I had a dog before and it was only kept outside. This dog knew it should never approach me unless I approach him. And he knew jumping and licking was not allowed. This dog was never allowed indoors (except for my uncle’s home).
I can’t believe I have to be digging for the places NOT allowing pets so I can be able to walk freely during my stays.
Wish most countries adopted the Japanese policy on pets.
L. Kay
Well said! I’m so allergic to dogs and cats to the point I broken out in blisters! I can’t stay in hotels or go shopping at local shops because of all the animals. Yes! The animals has taken over, even in my favorite restaurants. So…. Now I shop On Amazon, We had to buy an RV for traveling, and I cook at home or have the restaurant deliver our food. Trust me! I don’t mind leaving a place if it’s a real service dog, but a pet! I can’t even shop at Sam’s club anymore. Three years ago around Christmas, there were at least 7 dogs in the store! Not all small…. Three were BIG DOGS! 🤷🏼♀️ I spoke to the manager, with my buggy full, and she said they have a right to! I said I hope the dogs spend as much as I would have, and left my buggy there. What can we do?🤦🏼♀️ Thanks for sharing your story with us,

Last line is the key. Why must the whole hotel be pet friendly? Why not just certain floors or wings? Contain it to certain rooms.

absolutely..the nation has gone gaga about dogs ..for heavens sake let’s have a reality check. I recently attended a public family day with open air picnics ..only guide dogs allowed…was a wonderful day..!!! I have Asthma and thoroughly enjoyed the fresh air, no dogs peeing, sniffing and generally being a nuisance where there’s food, babies and children.

I have had two sinus surgeries and take allergy medication daily, and had to start picking and choosing friends because of indoor pets and smokers. (and yes hotels) I have to put all of them in the same category, as they have the same effect on me. I can identify smokers instantly, but being around pets and owners of pets takes a while to affect me. When I stay in a pet friendly hotel that says they do extra cleaning for you are bogus claims and just spray some terrible smelling disinfectant that causes the same effect on my sinuses as animals, and suffer the next day. I have been blessed to live long enough to see how much deterioration of our rights about a lot of things, to satisfy the minority instead of the majority. You heard that right, we are the silent majority, because the squeaky wheel get the grease. The hotel chains have figured out that most people tolerate pet friendly hotels, because they don’t know any better or lied to about cleanliness, when we know better. The hotels know that pet owners file discrimination law suits, and raise such a stink, it’s easer to stick it to the majority that deal with the stinky people. Maybe some of the majority will start filing some lawsuits about health issues related to stays at this major hotel chains, and maybe we the people (majority) will see some of those right’s restored. I for one, would like to be on a jury of someone filing a lawsuit, who has experienced waking up with swollen eyelids and headaches, and missed work or ruined that much need and expensive vacation. I guess it’s time for me to step off my soapbox, before this post becomes a novel.

Love dogs like anyone else but I don’t need to be sleeping after a animal that licks it ass and smears dog shit all over your pillow case. Not to mention fleas. Incredibly stupid.

It’s time us non-pet lover stand up

And people take full advantage of the word “service” … yes there are REAL service animals & then there are just PETS that are claimed to be some type of service…

This whole post is specifically for you

A service dog is NOT a pet! Service dogs are trained for a certain individual for a specific disability. A pet is not required to have ANY level of training!

Wow I see I’m not the only one. I’m staying in the extended stay of America where they have specific rooms for dogs but!! God forbid I want to wash clothes in their laundry room designated for guests….ALL I SEE IS DOG HAIR!! Everywhere! THESE PET OWNERS ARE A MENACE! Clean up after your pet! Imagine what their house looks like (blahhh)

Found that Sleep Inns ONLY allow service pets. The 2 I’ve stayed on my June trip were by far cleaner than the pet friendly lodges. We have 2 dogs and 3 cats. They are all well cared for, but all stay OUTDOORS in THEIR natural environment. Can’t do the hair, pee, poop, messes, nor odors. Hard enough to keep a home clean w kids, gkids, spouse, family and friends, and most of them practice good hygiene…yep.

I’ve spent several occasions in hotels that accept pets. At best, it was tolerable, but for the most part the experiences were annoying to say the least. Fido can stay home at the pet motel in your neighborhood. I don’t need him snarling at me in the halls, barking all day and night in the room while the owners are out partying, and generally annoying me during my stay. As for the list above, it is essentially useless. unless I opt to visit the extremely limited locations mentioned, I’m screwed.
And at the veery least, the hotels can isolate the animal rooms from the rest of the rooms.

It is not fair. Animals take priority.

As with everything else going on in the world, pet owners are out of control & im sick of it. When did it become that an animal is more important that a human being. I’m an asthma sufferer and tired of my vacations ruined by somebody’s pet. It’s really the owners not the pet itself that needs to be more responsible for the stupidity of it all. Really? get an effing life & leave the dog for 10 mins. Or better yet but it in a kennel not a hotel room .. God forbid
Dan
I completely agree with all posts against animals in hotels, EVER. And might I add in grocery stores, home improvement stores, furniture stores, ok I’ll say it, in any place of retail except Petco or Petsmart. I love dogs I tolerate cats since some that are allowed to run free have urinated in 3 of my vehicles. I’ve seen dogs held in arms with their heads in the case sniffing the donuts while “Mommy” is leaning over to make her selection so I went elsewhere for my whole purchase. This pet owner “drag my part everywhere” revolution has got to stop soon. I travel about 50-75% and my company makes me stay in Hilton and IHG properties with coworkers and everyone’s dogs, not such a great thing. I could possibly deal with “some” 1st floor rooms being the only pet friendly rooms to minimize the interface but they need to use the side doors. Sorry if this sounds prejudiced against dogs and cats but they don’t carry the rights as people, they are ANIMALS not kids or humans beings.

animals are…. animals. they are not family and there should be waaaay more places that prohibit animals inside. leave them home with friend or put them in a kennel. and, yes, i had a dog before and i cried for some stupid reason when i gave her away after 7 years. she was still just an animal at the end of the day.

Hopefully hotel will stop catering to selfish pet owners.

I am actually allergic to pet dander and find it increasingly difficult to find hotels that don’t allow pets. Even if they clean well, I still struggle in pet-friendly hotels. For many people, pets are a part of their family but for many of us, they are not. We need to find a happy medium.
Linda
I completely agree with you. I simply can’t find an upscale hotel that is not pet friendly in Chicago. I will have to rent a vacation home during my visit

I totally agree and am over staying in hotels that allow pets. When did pets start become more important than people? Dogs have interrupted our sleep for the last several days at a Hampton Inn. We also have a 1 and4 year old. From large dogs to small happy dogs. Dogs are taking over and ruining non dog owners or owners who don’t travel with their dogs time in the hotel.
Tracey
Dogs and cats are animals. Pet owners don’t smell their animals in their own homes. However, a non pet owners such as myself can smell that stinky wet dog smell or that slightly stale urine smell of cats as soon as I enter a hotel room that has housed animals. It’s putrid, heavy and gets worse if it’s a damp day. Sorry for the brutal honesty Family or no family dogs and cats are animals. I can bathe my humans and they don’t smell like wet a dog or stale urine long after they’ve left the building.
