    Vegan Starbucks

Starbucks is one of the most vegan-friendly coffee shops in the nation.

Plus, with the plentiful supply of alternative, vegan milk and syrups, ordering at Starbucks is just plain simple.

Now there are a few things to remember like skipping the whipped cream and opting for soy, almond, or coconut milk, but we’ll get to the nitty gritty in just a second.

So, with that being said, here’s everything that’s vegan at Starbucks.

    Vegan Starbucks Options 2021

Here are some of the best vegan Starbucks options that you must try today, most of which can be made without having to make any major adjustments or substitutions:

    Popular Vegan Starbucks Drinks

    • All coffees (hot, iced, or cold brew)
    • CaffΓ© Latte (soy, almond, or coconut milk)
    • CaffΓ© Mocha (soy, almond, or coconut milk, and without whipped cream)
    • Caramel Macchiatos (without the caramel and with soy, almond, or coconut milk)
    • Chestnut Praline Latte (soy, almond, or coconut milk)
    • Chocolate Smoothie (without the protein powder)

    Vegan Starbucks Frappuccinos

Here are all the vegan Starbucks Frappuccino options. Just be sure to order all these without whipped cream and with either soy, almond, or coconut milk.

    • CaffΓ© Vanilla Frappuccino
    • Caramel Frappuccino
    • Cinnamon Dolce Frappuccino
    • Espresso Frappuccino
    • Green Tea Creme Frappuccino

    • Salted Caramel Mocha Frappuccino (replace caramel sauce with caramel syrup)
    • Strawberries and Creme Frappuccino

    Vegan Starbucks Syrups

Generally all clear syrups are vegan. And even though it’s not clear, the mocha syrup is also vegan. Here are all the vegan Starbucks syrups:

    • almond
    • caramel
    • gingerbread (seasonal)
    • hazelnut
    • macadamia
    • mocha
    • peach
    • simple
    • toffee-nut

    Vegan Starbucks Tea

Here are all the teas that are vegan friendly:

    • black tea (iced)
    • chai
    • chamomile tea
    • earl grey
    • emperor’s clouds and mist
    • full leaf
    • green (iced or hot)
    • hibiscus (iced)

Here are all the lemonades that are vegan:

    • iced shaken black tea lemonade
    • iced shaken green tea lemonade
    • iced shaken hibiscus lemonade
    • iced shake peach green tea lemonade

    Milk Options

Now there are a few things you must take notice of before you are ordering at Starbucks. Be sure to skip the cow’s milk and cream and opt for the following instead:

    • soy milk
    • almond milk
    • coconut milk

    Ingredients You Need to Avoid

Here’s everything that you must avoid when ordering at Starbucks:

    • whipped cream
    • caramel drizzle (you’ll find this in the Caramel Macchiato and Caramel Frappuccino)
    • java chips (you’ll find this in the Java Chip Frappuccino)
    • cinnamon dolce

    Drinks That Can’t Be Vegan

Unfortunately, a few Starbucks drinks can’t be made vegan mainly because there’s already honey or cow milk in there straight from the factory.

So with that being said, here are some drinks that you must avoid:

    • white mocha (all drinks)
    • caramel brΓ»lΓ©e (all drinks)
    • non-Teavana chai
    • pumpkin spice (all drinks)

    And lastly….

I believe the Oprah Chai Latte with non dairy milk is vegan. The ingredients list does not include honey like the regular chai latte does. Can anyone confirm?

This was a wealth of knowledge, however, I just left Starbucks and the barista told me the pumpkin spice and the mocha do have milk in them. The only thing for vegans at Starbucks seems to be a soy misto, soy latte or Oprah’s chai tea.

Mocha powder does not contain dairy, sugar-free/skinny mocha does contain dairy as well as white mocha, i’m not sure what it is in Canada only U.S.

Thanks for this post. I had blood work results come in a few weeks ago and I learned from my doctor I am allergic to dairy. I have been going to starbucks 3 days a week and had no idea just switching to soy milk wasn’t enough. I will bookmark this guide for future use. And I met a vegan starbucks employee today who pretty much told me the same story on everything. I found out after ordering a caramel apple spice today the caramel has dairy. Thank goodness my barista caught it and helped me before it was completely made.

Is their chai mix vegan? I’ve asked them… and with an unsure look on her face the barista said, “it’s vegan”…
      Can anyone help?

I am a barista. I am also vegan. The classic Chai concentrate does contain honey, however the Oprah Chai is made with organic sugar and is totally vegan

In the state of California — and in other jurisdictions — the person who does the repairs can turn in the salvage title for one that reads “revived salvage. Adding optimum performance with superior comfort and class, Holden vehicle partner continues to take its vehicles to new levels of engine performance and fuel economy. On the green tea frappuccino you have to ask for soy milk and no whip cream to make it vegan.

In the us the mocha sauce does not contain dairy, the caramel sauce, white mocha, and pumpkin spice have dairy, chai has honey, and protein powder, whip cream, hazelnut sauce, contains dairy. If you stay away from those items and get soy your drink is vegan.

I used to love getting Mocha Lattes but I was told by a barista that the syrup isn’t vegan friendly. Brittflix on youtube has a great recipe for vegan mocha syrup, look up her video Starbucks Inspired vegan mocha latte. It’s soo good.

the caramel drizzle has dairy. the caramel sauce does not. all of the drizzles except mocha have dairy, I believe.

Your reply was not accurate. “the caramel drizzle has dairy. the caramel sauce does not.” The caramel drizzle IS the caramel sauce. The caramel SYRUP does not have dairy.

I’ve always been mystified by their enormous menu. Maybe someone could help me. I always just get black iced tea. Do any of those drinks listed above not contain coffee or coffee flavor? I know it sounds crazy but I do not like the taste. Thanks πŸ™‚

You can make basically any of their teas into a ‘latte’ (or misto) too, if you want to. They have all the standards – black ‘English Breakfast’ style tea, Earl Grey, Vanilla rooibos, various Green teas, fruity herbals, etc. You can ask for their selection at the counter.

They do a good ‘London Fog’, which is an Earl Grey tea latte with vanilla syrup. I’ve done up their Pumpkin Spice latte with black tea instead of espresso – while I DO love espresso, I actually think the pumpkin spice syrup meshes MUCH better with the flavour of tea. And I *adore* the green tea lattes/frappucinos – I get them with extra scoops of matcha powder, and sometimes 1-2 pump(s) vanilla, 1 pump hazelnut. Been craving that for days, in fact. lol

A few of their fraps are coffee-free, too, like the vanilla bean cream frap, and you can get basically any syrup in a hot latte-LIKE drink called a steamer, which is just hot milk (and I believe they can do this with their soy milk, too). They also have an apple cider that’s delicious and, of course, hot chocolate, even if they aren’t on the menu – and you can tweak those in several ways too.

Lastly, you could *try* ordering any of the regular espresso-based lattes/mochas/what-have-you, but with LESS espresso, and in a ‘ristretto’ pull. It’s a shorter, sweeter shot of espresso that blends better with some of the drinks, IMO. I usually order grande drinks, and I often start by saying ‘single shot, ristretto’ whatever-the-drink-is.

I’m a wee bit of a Starbucks addict, and I never order ‘off the menu’. I’ve semi-memorized half their stock and I make things up when I go… I’m not sure if the baristas love me for my creativity and knowledge of how to order semi-properly, or just dread my visits. “There’s the complicated girl again!” :/

P.S. I am not vegan, but I do get nearly all of my drinks made with soy. If you’re unsure if something is vegan, you should be able to ask at the counter. I find most baristas to be really friendly and helpful.

Try a refresher, I like 1/2 orange 1/2 berry or 1/2 lime 1/2 berry. They contain un roasted green coffee and do not taste like coffee. They simply have a fruity taste and as much caffeine as a soda. All frappuccinos can be made without coffee.
