The 10 Best Apps Every Foodie Must Have On Their Phone

Food apps are probably one of the most important apps any foodie can have on their phones. Whether if you love to have thousands of recipes at your fingertips, or the ability to virtually wait in line at a restaurant so that you can come in once your wait time is up, food apps are incredible.

Below are some awesome apps that I truly believe every foodie must have on their phone. From getting free food at restaurants to discovering delicious restaurant recommendations from your favorite top chefs, you’ll find the perfect app that’s just waiting to help you dominate your next dining experience.

So with that being said, here we go!

The Best Food Apps Every Foodie Needs

Here are all of the best restaurant apps every foodie should have in their arsenal.

1. Trip Advisor

Trip Advisor Restaurant App

This “travel app” has possibly some of the best, most spot on, restaurant reviews around. Trip Advisor also features restaurant rankings by location, which shows you what some of the hottest, highly rated restaurants in town are. It’s definitely a great app for anyone who prefers reading restaurants before actually committing to a dining decision. Get Trip Advisor here.

2. Fousquare

Foursquare Restaurant App

If there’s one app that anyone who eats out a lot absolutely needs, it’s Foursquare. You see, Foursquare gets no love. People hate checking in and frankly, it seems like people just don’t care. However, if you love free food and discounts, you absolutely need Foursquare.  By checking in at certain restaurants, you are eligible to receive a special discount, or better free food. For example, if you check in at Chilis, you get a free coupon for chips and salsa. All you have to do is show your waitress the code that pops up. It’s that simple! Sign up for an account here.

3. Open Table

Open Table Restaurant App

Wouldn’t it be great if you could make restaurant reservations from your phone, while also getting cash back? Well with Open Table, it’s possible! Just sign up for an account and start making reservations at your favorite restaurants using their app. With every visit to an eligible Open Table restaurant, you get points which can then get redeemed for cash back and coupons. Get the app here.

4. Acorns

Acorns App

Although not a food app, Acorns is a great app that you must check out especially if you use your debit card a lot when eating out. Basically how it works is that when you make a purchase, you’ll be able to invest the difference. So if you make a purchase at Starbucks for $5.30, Acorns will round up and invest the $0.70 for you. It’s an awesome way to potentially make some money just for eating out. Get the app here.

5. Urbanspoon

Zomato

Frankly, who doesn’t love playing with the restaurant slot machine? All you need to do is set your parameters, and hit spin. From there, you’ll get a delicious restaurant recommendation with reviews, directions, and even photos. Get the app here.

6. Chefs Feed

Chefs Feed

Chefs Feed is really starting to grow on me. What this app does is that it shows you delicious dishes in your area recommended by some of the top chefs in the country.  I mean seriously, there’s nothing better than getting restaurant and dish recommendations by Michael Mina himself.  Get the app here.

7. Grubhub

GrubHub

There’s no better way to order food from your joint and have it delivered to your room, with just a swipe of the finger. Get the app here.

8. Fork It by Kitchenbowl

Fork It App

Fork It is a great app for anyone who wants to cook more at home but just doesn’t have the motivation or consistency of doing so. Thankfully this app helps turn cooking into a game through daily check-ins as dishes (like making gluten free vegan roasted red pepper pasta.). Plus you get to join cooking challenges with friends which ultimately helps you build healthy habits through motivated home cooking. Get the app here.

9. Starbucks App

Starbucks Rewards App

If you’re addicted to Starbucks, this app is an absolute must. First of all, having a Starbucks apps gives you access to free iTunes music, games, and apps, as well as Starbucks drink info. Second, and more importantly, having a Starbucks account and registered card through the app allows you to get free coffee refills and even free drinks, as long as you meet the criteria. Get the app.

10. Yelp

Yelp

I’m going to be honest about Yelp. It’s hard for me to trust some of the reviews. Like don’t get me wrong, some of the reviews are spot on, but others are highly critical. However, with that being said, their directory of restaurant reviews is huge so it’s always a great resource to check out when trying to find some place delicious to eat at. Get the app here.

11. NoWait

NoWait App

My newest best friend. NoWait allows you to virtually wait in line at your favorite restaurants. Just download the app and you’ll be able to add yourself to the wait list. Once your table is ready, you’ll receive a text telling you to come to the restaurant. It’s so cool!

Quick Question

Are there any food apps that you absolutely can’t live without?

I have an inkling that Pestle is due to be worth a note, a scrapbook style recipe management app. Due out shortly at Pestleapp.com.
